mod_pagespeed is an Apache module that automatically optimizes Javascript, HTML, CSS, and images (JPG and PNG). See Google's summary for more information.

Apache modules cannot be installed on the (gs) Grid-Service. This module requires Apache 2.2. The (gs) Grid-Service currently runs Apache 2.0.54, although Apache 2.2 is in the works for new (gs) Grid-Service Clusters. At this time, it is not possible to install mod_pagespeed on your (gs) Grid-Service.

It is possible to install on a (dv) Dedicated-Virtual Server or (ve) Server. See this article for (dv) Dedicated-Virtual Server instructions:
