Contribute

Please contribute to the wiki if you have the time and the knowledge. Just type the name of the article you want to write in the box above. We have already populated your new article with some typical things that you might see on a (ve) article. For examples of all the content you could include for an article see our Article styling page.

How to start a new page

The wiki software we use, Mediawiki, does not have a "Create Page" command anywhere on the screen. This is intentional.

The best way to start a new page is to create a link to that page from an existing page, and then follow that link to edit the page. We prefer that you start at Home and browse around, or use the search functionality, to find a related topic. For example, if you're going to write an article about installing nginx on Ubuntu, you might search for the word "nginx" first.

If your search comes up blank, just enter the page name, using our naming conventions, into the search box and you will get an option to create the page.

To create a placeholder link to a new article on an existing page that doesn't exist yet is easy. Just edit an existing article and put your link between double brackets,

[[Like this]] . This will create a link to a new blank page with the title you specified between the brackets.

Just get it started

It's not necessary to create a complete article all at once. Sometimes just creating a "stub" or an outline is good enough. You, or others in the community, can expand on it as time goes by. This is very much how wikis are designed to work.
